I am destroyed so peacefully by Adele Lorienne Sessler

"I am destroyed so peacefully..." -quote from Luke (a former prince who went insane, and is now being held in exile).

A semi-polished thumbnail sketch for a larger painting of Luke I'm working on...which will probably take forever to complete due to other projects needing to be finished first. Regardless, I am very pleased with it, especially the colors and lighting! Went for a moonlight theme with firelight underglow. I might end up liking this version better than the full one, heh. Details have a way of changing expression...

A Memory by Adele Lorienne Sessler

My long-overdue end of a trade with Dorothy, featuring her character Jakov reminiscing about the past. Roses play a large role in her work, and each of her vampires has a particular rose of his/her own, so I had to fit one in somewhere. Thanks for your patience, Dorothy! ^__^ Done in pencil.

Cherish by Adele Lorienne Sessler

Faeren and the Mistress of Illusion, the embodiment of the Forest that shelters and imprisons him. She holds and guards him like a jealous lover while he sleeps, but during the day she appears to him only as a little golden-white creature. He calls her Snoots and considers her a pet, but I think perhaps the opposite is true...

I had to force myself to work on this slowly, 2-4 hours every couple days so I wouldn't torture my wrist (or strain the limits of my patience/sanity). It's taken the past two weeks to complete, and I haven't ground so many pencils' guts onto paper since "Awakening"... Only Faeren can persuade me to devote so much time to foliage...and he does it every time. *sigh* I think it's safe to assume who my muse is. XD

Medium:
Tags:
Talon by Adele Lorienne Sessler

Cover for the upcoming book "Talon", first of The Astor Chronicles series by Australian author Amanda Greenslade.
One of the largest commissions I've ever painted, in terms of size. I'm not used to working at such a large resolution, so it took several weeks longer than I had planned on. I had to constantly merge layers down so my poor comp wouldn't explode. But it's finished now! And I am very proud of that sky. ^__^

Aveyond II by Adele Lorienne Sessler

A painting commissioned by Amaranth Games for an upcoming title of theirs. This took around three weeks of work, and has been the largest commission of mine to date. I must say I enjoyed it, though, when I wasn't frustrated painting the leaves. ^__^;; The castle's my favorite part. Oh, and the glowing ball in the girl's hands is a song-sphere, kinda like the magical equivalent of an ipod, I suppose.
Beautiful Ruin by Adele Lorienne Sessler

Luke's continued descent into madness, a former prince now merely a shadow of himself, hiding away from the world he's betrayed. Over 80 hours put into this...I don't even want to think about it anymore.
I Remember Moonlight by Adele Lorienne Sessler

My end of a trade-paint with the talented Natsuki!
SHE DREW THE LINEART and I painted it. It was a challenge to do because our styles are so different, and I've never painted a shoreline before. I'm glad of the experience, though. After two weeks of study and mindless frustration and even a dizzy spell, I have finally learned how to paint waves. *falls asleep from exhaustion* Many thanks to Stef for her help!

Awakening by Adele Lorienne Sessler

Somewhat of a sequel to the painting "Forsaken". Visit that pic and description for the story behind this. Faeren's appearance has altered a bit with his gradual acceptance of his unusual fate as part of the forest, and I had fun incorporating aspects of nature into his design. Took about two weeks to finish, off and on. I tried to give the fabric a different texture than its surroundings. It felt nice to do a pencil piece again. ^_^

Other related images in my gallery: "Forsaken".

Forsaken by Adele Lorienne Sessler

For months this image waited in my mind wanting to come to life, and finally, over a period of three weeks last year, 6-12 hours a day, it did. One of the more realistic paintings I've ever attempted, and I'm surprised my poor tablet survived the abuse.

Come home to me by Adele Lorienne Sessler

A sappy Christmas gift painting for Kelly, although it's more like a glorified sketch. Didn't turn out exactly like I wanted, but it's the best I could do under the circumstances. Luke and Diana have been going through some hard times lately, but, like the blossoms blooming after a hard winter, I believe their bond will survive. ^__^

Medium:
Tags:
Transcendence by Adele Lorienne Sessler

Faeren, in a symbolic painting that needs no explanation or reason other than the title. It can be interpreted however you like, though there are other paintings that might help explain the story a bit. ^__^ I'm happy with the way his cloak turns into moss at the bottom. Introduced at FaerieWorlds 2006!

Prince Luke and his servant/friend Danathen all decked out in holiday-ish garb. My theme pic for this winter. ^__^ A lot of love and time went into this one.

Sorry for the downtime, I wanted to rework the picture some--modify Luke's outfit and take care of a few detail and lighting issues.

Masquerade --Of Shadows by Adele Lorienne Sessler

The last of the masquerade-theme pencil portraits I'll be doing of my characters, matching them to the animal/creature they most associate with. This one is Morgan, and his theme is raven to represent mystery, pride, cunning, and darkness. There's some vidaugs in the border, too.
Faeren sleeping in a partial reality, cradled and sheltered in the arms of nature. He's actually in a room, which is dissintrigrating into a forest around him.
